New Story == Frontier delay

Now the reason that there haven't been any new Chuck vs The Frontier chapters:

Chuck vs the Sunken Treasure

AU: Chuck didn't get kicked out of Stanford, but managed to avoid CIA recruitment.
Sarah's dad managed not to get arrested by the feds and instead fled with his daughter to the Philippines, where they run a marine salvage company.
Coincidentally, when the Roark Seven gaming laptop prototype is lost in a plane crash in the South China Sea, Roark Instruments contracts with Walker Marine Salvage to recover it, sending Chuck to oversee the operation. Sparks fly. Pirates attack. Star Wars is quoted. Not necessarily by Chuck.

Update:
Chapter 4 is up.
So is Chapter 5.

Chuck vs the Frontier 30

Chapter is up, link is

here.

Chuck & Sarah vs the Recruits Preview 3

So, while I'm not going to start posting full chapters of the last story in the Chuck & Sarah vs Themselves Trilogy on FF.net until I finish posting vs the Frontier, loyal blog-watchers will probably continue to get bits and pieces like this one: the first half of Chapter 1, after the break.

Oh, and the action picks up a few weeks after the ending of Chuck & Sarah vs the Bunker. This is probably quite obvious through context clues, but in case somehow you've missed out on the fact that Bunker is the sequel to Themselves, this wouldn't make much sense without having read the second story.

Frontier News!

So... Chuck vs the Frontier just got an ending.

I've had the ending in mind for a while, but the sheer logistics of how to get there have been less than clear. Had a breakthrough and wrote the final scene tonight (I know, I know; stop writing out of order, ninja!)

The good news is that this should help me power through, knowing there won't be any 'whoops, now what?' moments past the Fort Knox whoopsie I mentioned at the end of 29.

The other good news is that Chuck vs. The Frontier is going to be longer than I initially thought, because, well, to make a long story short (and is that every the wrong turn of phrase right there) I've added  like three more action sequences that weren't planned originally. So, probably another 10 chapters or so before the end, as opposed to the four or five I was expecting. That's good news, right?

Barring a laptop fire, I should get Chapter 30 up on monday or tuesday, and we'll shoot for at least an update a week from that point forward.

Catastrophe! Averted?

My laptop is...  in critical condition.
I nearly lost 30k words on an original work, and am now in the process of trying to back up all the separate files ive got cs vs recruits in before i try to reformat.

windows safe mode refuses to boot, which makes me very very sad.

the last time i had an issue like this i somehow overlooked my thesis and the first six chapters of a novel that i realUly liked.
hopefully things go better this time.

this will likely delay frontier updates, but I dont know for how long...

my phone is the only reliable word processor in my life right now, (and for some reason i cant capitalize thing properly...maybe not that reliable after all) so that makes working with ff.net difficult.
wish me luck.

Update: my laptop is still covered by the 3 yr service agreement i purchased along with it, so this might turn out ok.

Writing writing yay!

I have rediscovered the joy of coffee, and managed to nearly finish the next chapter of Frontier, (and some of the chapter after that) and even got down part of one of the Recruits' intro chapters for Chuck & Sarah vs the Recruits.

Why couldn't I have done that at 4 in the afternoon instead of 4 in the morning, you ask? Your guess is as good as mine. As I'm feeling generous, you'll find that bit of Recruits after the break.

Chuck vs the Frontier 26

I apologize in advance, for a Chapter of Chuck vs. the Frontier without an appearance by Chuck. It made sense at the time.

The link to the new chapter is here.

Chuck vs the Frontier 25

I said this chapter would be out earlier in the week, and then LA Noire happened. (And no, I really don't want to write Chuck into Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, but it might be happening anyway.)

Sorry for the delay.

The chapter can be found here.

Frea O'scanlin, a fellow Chuck Fanfic writer over at Castleinanity.blogspot.com, who is unironically Awesome, made me this cover for Chuck vs. The Frontier, for when I get it finished and turned into a free ebook. The picture is after the break

Chuck vs the Frontier progress

I'm picking up speed on the next chapter, and the story as a whole is rocketing towards its conclusion. (Probably somewhere in the early 30s chapter-wise)

This brings to light a concern. If I'm going to make a Chuck vs the Frontier ebook, like I did for Chuck & Sarah vs Themselves, there aren't really any pictures from the show I could use as the cover.

My photoshop skills are just not up to snuff to put Chuck and Sarah into an old Western movie poster. Any ideas on how to 'frontier-ify' a pic from the show? A screen-cap of Harry Tang in his cowboy costume from Season One is the closest I can think of right now.

Expect chapter 25 of Chuck vs. the Frontier to go up Tuesday night/very early Wednesday morning at the latest.

Sigh of premature relief...

Yay me! Got all my revisions turned in, and my preface revision turned in. All I have to do now is make final changes, and print up 3 copies of my 102 page thesis for my committee and sound smart and don't have a panic attack on the 24th when I defend.

102 pages... 0_0. Yikes.
Granted, that's only 27,000 words and my shortest story online is like 56,000. But still, I worked hard on those 27,000 words. Not that I didn't work hard on vs. The Bunker... just... this post got away from me somewhere.

Happy day! Going to order a pizza... you know... later, when the pizza place is open.

Also: Spring Break!

Also also: Too Much Caffeine!

The Wire re-watch 2011: Spoilers

Season one, episode three.

Seems like every time somebody says almost anything this episode, it's a prophetic statement about one of the later seasons. Especially where D'angelo is teaching chess to the 'pawns' in the low-rises. And then you realize that no one at that chess board is going to live to see the end of the series. :(

Also noteworthy this episode is McNulty bullying the bad/lazy cops on the detail into doing their jobs for a brief, brief time.
That and McNulty is the last one to figure out Kima is gay. He's usually so smooth... or drunk. Or a little of both.

All awesome bits I had completely forgotten about. Glad this show managed to get to five seasons.

Chuck & Sarah vs Themselves 34

New chapter is up, for those of you who have been patiently awaiting it.
And not so patiently, but that's really on me.

The link is here.

New frontier Chapter

Chapter 20, in which, things happen and Sarah tells Chuck her story. I'll probably delete the story Sarah vs the Frontier from FF.net when I can work up the nerve, as it's now a part of the story proper.

Linkage is here.

Also, a note on Chuck & Sarah vs Themselves: the current plan is for Chapter 40 to be the end, linking back up with events in Chuck & Sarah vs The Bunker. Everything through 36 is either in beta or ready for beta and the outline for the last four chapters is almost complete. I probably won't get to actually writing 37-40 until after my Thesis defense in March, but there should be enough stuff in the pipeline to fill that time, and further chapters of Frontier are lining up in my brain even as I write this post.

Progress!

After months of writer's block on my thesis... and I mean months... ugh... eagle eyed readers will notice the Master's thesis progress bar jumped from 3.5 stories completed to 4.5 stories completed.

Hooray! I might make my deadline after all! Go me!

Chuck vs the Frontier 18!

No! I didn't forget!

Link to chapter 18 is right here!

Also, link to chapter 19 is here!

cs vs themselves snowed in?

That's right. Snowed in. It's coming down outside like it wasn't 65 GD degrees out yesterday, and so my internet is out. 3G still works, hence this little status update, so I thought maybe I could use my phone to get the chapter up as well, but it won't upload to ff.net properly, and the chapter is too long to fit in a blogspot post, (I already tried) which was kind of a last resort anyway. Hopefully I'll be able to post once the storm dies down...

Edit: The snow has subsided for now, but it will be dark soon, so this is my window to post the chapter.

Follow the link here, to chapter 30.

Being Sick is not cool... also New Chapter Preview

I've been laid up with the funk ever since I got back from xmas with family in California, and haven't gotten any work done! Arg. Deadlines are looming like those things that loom. To try to spur myself back from the brink of inactivity, I am posting a preview for the next Chapter of Chuck & Sarah vs. Themselves. Chapter 30, also known as 'the big one.' Enjoy...
