Season one, episode three.
Seems like every time somebody says almost anything this episode, it's a prophetic statement about one of the later seasons. Especially where D'angelo is teaching chess to the 'pawns' in the low-rises. And then you realize that no one at that chess board is going to live to see the end of the series. :(
Also noteworthy this episode is McNulty bullying the bad/lazy cops on the detail into doing their jobs for a brief, brief time.
That and McNulty is the last one to figure out Kima is gay. He's usually so smooth... or drunk. Or a little of both.
All awesome bits I had completely forgotten about. Glad this show managed to get to five seasons.
